Reimagine the future
Your future. Your voice.
When given the chance, skills and confidence to be leaders in their communities, children and young people have enormous potential – for creativity, innovation and change.
Yet, recent studies show that young people in the country feel excluded and have limited opportunities to lead change towards a better future for themselves and future generations:
- 85 per cent of young people have never participated in consultations let by authorities and 6 out of 10 young people believe they cannot impact the way authorities work
- Only a third of young people feel optimistic that the country is moving in the right direction
This reality, along with poverty, lack of quality education and limited job opportunities, concerns about mental and physical wellbeing and the environment – shape young people’s perspectives. The COVID-19 pandemic has further exacerbated these challenges, but it has also provided a unique opportunity to reimagine a world fit for all children and young people, with young people themselves.
‘Reimagine the Future’ is a new initiative by the President and UNICEF to give children and young people the space to engage in defining the vision they want for their future and future generations.
Join the initiative - Your future. Your voice
Young people are being given the chance to join the initiative by taking the online survey and applying to an open call to participate in series of workshops. These events will be an opportunity to discuss issues that matter to young people, their biggest challenges, hopes for the future of the country and solutions to turn the vision into reality.
