One team for child's rights

Skopje, 17 November 2022: As part of the partnership between UNICEF and the Football Federation of Macedonia, at the friendly football matches between North Macedonia and Finland (17 November) and North Macedonia and Azerbaijan (20 November), children accompanying the players will be wearing World Children’s Day t-shirts with a message for a more equal, inclusive society for every child.

This is the first activity that UNICEF and the Football Federation of Macedonia are organizing within their joint campaign to mark the World Children’s Day and promote children’s rights. The “We are all one team” slogan is a call for all to come together for children’s rights.

Taking place every year on 20 November, World Children’s Day highlights critical issues affecting children’s lives and supports the engagement of children and young people as advocates for their own rights. This year, World Children’s Day falls on the same day as the official start of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 providing partners a unique opportunity to put children’s issues at the top of the global agenda.

In North Macedonia the campaign around World Children’s Day will culminate on 21 November with “kids take over” friendly football match between children, professional players from the national representation, players from Special Olympics and officials. This “kids take over” football match, will bring attention to issues important to children - equal opportunities, quality education, healthy environment, and mental health for every child.
