Communicating to advocate for every child

UNICEF, as a global child advocacy agency, remains a credible and trusted voice of children.

We use our voice to reach different audiences with information and raise awareness about the rights and well-being of children and young people.

UNICEF’s communication and advocacy is not just about communicating, it is about creating lasting and trusted partnerships, convincing government counterparts, development partners, civil society organisations, the private sector, the media, communities and parents to take action and demand change for children and young people, especially the most vulnerable, excluded and disadvantaged.

Our communication, advocacy and partnership strategy attempt to influence, engage and raise the profile of children’s rights in national dialogue, private sector partnerships, community engagemtn and mobilization and media engagement.

Our communication, advocacy and partnership initiatives are fully integrated within our programme planning, implementation and monitoring, to:

  • raise visibility of issues affecting children and young people.
  • increase awareness of key child rights.
  • fuel social engagement and behaviour change.
  • shift public policy; and
  • increase private and public resources for children and young people
