Children in Namibia have the right to grow up free from poverty, violence and abuse.

UNICEF, in collaboration with government and other development partners, aims to strengthen the child protection system in Namibia by creating supportive legislative, community and family environments.

Reforming the child grant system, developing and implementing laws, policies, strategies, plans and budgets for child protection and social protection aims to strengthen the child protection system in Namibia.

The provision of integrated child protection and child justice services for child victims of violence and exploitation, children with disabilities and other socially excluded adolescents, will ensure that the basic rights of all children are protected, and their needs are addressed holistically.

Priorities for protecting all children especially the most vulnerable include

  • improvement of timely birth registration.
  • strengthen the capacity of government to generate and use disaggregated, equity-focused data to plan and boost public and private investments for children and adolescents.
  • protecting children and adolescents against all forms of violence.
