After months of preparation, filming, and intensive behind-the-scenes work, Moldova’s first socio-educational series for children and adolescents, “Generatia ALPHA”, will premiere on Friday, April 3.

New episodes will be available to watch every week at 6:00 p.m. on Patricia Ciorescu’s YouTube channel (“Ciao, Patricia!”), as well as on the following TV channels:

  • Moldova 1 – every Friday at 21:30, with a rerun on Saturday at 09:30;
  • TV8 – every Saturday at 20:40, with a rerun on Sunday at 09:00;
  • Jurnal TV – every Saturday at 10:20, with a rerun on Wednesday at 17:30;
  • TVR Moldova – every Saturday at 11:00, with a rerun on Sunday at 13:30;
  • Elita TV – every Monday at 07:25, with a rerun the same day at 19:25.

Produced by CIOfilm and UNICEF Moldova, in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Research, the series highlights the situations many children and adolescents face in their daily lives: bullying and cyberbullying, violence at home and in school, discrimination, and exclusion.

Through stories inspired by real life, “Generația ALPHA” aims to positively influence social norms, attitudes, and behaviours of children, adolescents, and the adults around them.

“We wanted the series to feel authentic, close to their experiences, and to show that even in difficult situations, support and solutions exist,” says Ilinca Stînca, the series’ director and screenwriter.

According to Cristina Stratulat, Social and Behaviour Change Officer at UNICEF, the five episodes can become a powerful tool for shifting social norms.

“Children learn not only from what they are told, but especially from situations they can relate to. Characters and positive examples can inspire empathy and shape more inclusive behaviours and social norms. Through this initiative, we aim to do exactly that - to help raise a healthy, confident, and supportive generation,” said Cristina Stratulat.

At the centre of the story is Patricia, a student who transfers to a new school and discovers how quickly the excitement of a fresh start can be overshadowed by exclusion, jokes, and prejudice.

“My character goes through situations we often encounter in real life. I believe many children will see themselves in these moments and understand that they are not alone when facing difficult experiences,” says Patricia Ciorescu, one of the series’ protagonists.

Throughout the episodes, her experiences intersect with those of other classmates, each carrying their own story. Viewers will also meet:

  • Andreea, played by Vivien Rusu, is a character showing how quickly roles can reverse in bullying situations;
  • Radu, played by Samson Hatman, is a boy in a wheelchair facing prejudice;
  • Romina, played by Melisa Chilimicenco, who experiences discrimination;
  • Dan, portrayed by Gabriel Lițcan, is a child caught between fear, silence, and violence at home and at school.

The need for such initiatives is also confirmed by data from the 2025 Barometer on lower secondary and high school education, which shows that bullying - both offline and online - remains a reality for many children. Spreading rumours, mockery, intentional exclusion, and verbal intimidation are among the most common forms reported, while one in four students experiences offensive comments related to their body, appearance, or identity.

In this context, “Generatia ALPHA” responds to a real need to create a safe space for dialogue, provide positive role models, and support children, parents, and teachers in preventing violence, promoting inclusion, and strengthening children’s emotional well-being.
