Highlights
The Ministry of Public Health has developed the Child Protection Policy in Nurseries to mitigate the risks of abuse. It aims to create a safe and nurturing environment within nurseries where children can grow up safely and healthily during their formative years. It was developed through a review process of international standards, local laws, and evidence-based practices. The policy was formulated based on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, Lebanese law, and input from relevant stakeholders, including relevant ministries (the Ministry of Social Affairs, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, and the Ministry of Justice), UNICEF, and child protection organizations, to ensure that local needs are met while adhering to international best practices. This policy aims to establish child protection as a central value in nursery operations, making it a shared responsibility among all stakeholders.
