Beirut, 30 April 2026 – As the crisis in Lebanon continues to affect children and families, the Government of the Republic of Korea has contributed US$1 million to UNICEF to support emergency education and nutrition interventions.
This timely contribution will help ensure that children affected by the crisis can continue learning and access essential nutrition services. In partnership with the Government of Lebanon, UNICEF will support both in-person and remote learning, including through safe learning spaces and community-based programmes, while delivering critical nutrition support to vulnerable children, adolescents, and pregnant and breastfeeding women.
“On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Korea, we proudly contribute to vital support for nutrition and education programs in Lebanon,” said Gyusuk Geon ambassador of the Republic of Korea in Lebanon. “This is our way of standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the country, affirming that Lebanon does not face these trials alone. Korea stands with Lebanon - today, tomorrow, and always - in shared humanity and unbreakable friendship.”
“Children in Lebanon cannot afford to lose access to learning or basic nutrition because of this crisis,” said Marcoluigi Corsi, UNICEF Representative in Lebanon. “This contribution from the Republic of Korea comes at a critical time helping children stay in school, stay healthy, and protecting them from the long-term consequences of this emergency.”
The support will also strengthen access to life-saving nutrition services and promote better child feeding and care practices among families, helping protect children’s growth and development during a period of heightened vulnerability.
UNICEF welcomes the continued partnership with the Republic of Korea, whose support remains vital in reaching the most vulnerable children and sustaining essential services across Lebanon.
