Laos goes blue in support of children’s rights
World Children's Day in Laos
Young super-heroes in Laos were on a mission this month to turn national landmarks blue in "Operation Blue". On the 20th of November, World Children’s Day, they accomplished their mission and the iconic monument in the centre of Vientiane, Patuxay, turned blue.
The Minister to the Prime Minister Office, H.E. Alounkeo Kittikhoun, and Octavian Bivol, UNICEF Representative, turned the lights blue on one of the most iconic landmarks in Laos.
Today, going blue symbolizes children, leaders and older generations alike raising their voice to make children’s rights and wellbeing a priority in their country.
Laos has proudly answered UNICEF’s call to go blue; let’s make this symbolic action a concrete and long-lasting commitment in support for the cause of children.
