As part of the ongoing COVID-19 education emergency response, the Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES) has developed the Teaching and Learning Platform Khang Panya Lao ຄັງປັນຍາລາວ.
The digital platform, Khang Panya Lao (which means Wisdom Warehouse in English) can be accessed via the web and as an application (APP) allowing for offline access, serves the following purposes:
- Facilitate the learning of children and adolescents, allowing for continuity of learning during school closures and as a supplementary learning resource to face-to-face classes and learning at home
- Enhance teaching by supporting the work of and professional development of teachers, principals, pedagogical advisors and education technical staff by providing resources and as a platform for blended trainings
- Enhance the digital skills of Lao children, young people, teachers and education staff
The Platform can be used for blended learning, as teaching tool in schools, and as an additional resource for learning at home for students and teachers allowing for continuity of learning in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic and related emergencies.
The platform is based on the Learning Passport and has been developed with the support of the European Union, the Global Partnership for Education and UNICEF in collaboration with Aide et Action, Australia-DFAT and BEQUAL, ChildFund, Humanity & Inclusion, JICA, Room to Read, Save the Children, UNESCO, UNFPA, USAID, WFP and the World Bank.
