Of the region’s 187 million children, 73 million live in countries and territories where corporal punishment at home is still permitted to some extent, while 7 million school-aged children lack full legal protection from corporal punishment at school.

Violence against children is a reality in all Latin America and the Caribbean´s countries. UNICEF Regional Office together with Country Offices prioritize ending violence against children.

This booklet focuses on data of three forms of violence: corporal punishment, sexual violence, and armed violence.
