This report provides a comparative and analytical review of how Support Spaces are structured, implemented, and sustained across Latin America and the Caribbean. It explores how these spaces respond to the diverse and evolving needs of people on the move – particularly those in vulnerable situations – by examining differences in modalities, service provision, coordination mechanisms, and sustainability pathways across countries and migration phases. This report was developed using a mixed methods approach designed to capture both regional trends and country-specific insights on the implementation of Support Spaces across Latin America and the Caribbean.
The methodology was aligned with the objectives of the consultancy and structured to support a comparative analysis of modalities, service provision, coordination frameworks, and sustainability pathways. This review focuses on Support Spaces for people on the move in Latin America and the Caribbean, encompassing models implemented by public institutions, NGOs, and United Nations agencies across transit, destination, and return contexts. The report adopts a function-based definition of Support Spaces, covering any structure that delivers multisectoral services and coordinated referrals, regardless of official labelling.
