Foleja, your pocket partner in parenthood
Innovative new Foleja mobile app supports early childhood development

In the first 5 years of life, a child’s brain makes 1 million new neural connections every second. Supporting early brain development can improve health, behavior and learning throughout life. This is why UNICEF Kosovo is committed to early childhood development.
About 85% of children in Kosovo stay at home until they start school, so parents and grandparents play the biggest role in their child’s first five years. Children learn best through play, but only 1 in 3 children aged 2-4 have parents who tell them stories, sing songs, or play games with them.
In June 2022, UNICEF launched Foleja, an all-in-one parenting app designed to give parents and caregivers the tools and expert advice needed to support their children from ages 0-6.
Parents can use Foleja to track vaccinations, record health visits, and get notifications about upcoming milestones– all catered to their child’s age and stage of development.
They can also watch advice videos about child nutrition, safety, and learning, as well as how to maintain their own mental health. To encourage all parents to play with their children, Foleja has a database of different games that develop language, motor skills and social emotional development.
