In a joint cooperation between the Ministry of Health and Medical Education and UNICEF Iran and with financial support from the European Union, an updated version of the “Breastfeeding Promotion Training Kit” has been developed and 500 copies printed.
The reference training book which was updated by the “Iranian Scientific Breastfeeding Promotion Society”, has been distributed among 63 Medical Sciences and Health Services Universities across the country. UNICEF supported printing the first edition of the book in 2009.
Breastfeeding gives children the best start in life. It protects babies against common infectious diseases, boosts their immune systems and ensures they receive the key nutrients they need to grow and develop to their full potential. Empowering and enabling mothers to breastfeed should be at the heart of countries’ efforts to keep every child alive and to build healthy, smart and productive societies.
