UNICEF and the State Welfare Organization (SWO) renewed a partnership agreement to strengthen national efforts for provision of care and protection to children and adolescents affected by social harms, children without caregivers, and children living with disabilities (CLWD).

The partnership includes enhancing national capacities for coordination of inclusive care and rehabilitation services to CLWD, strengthening the inclusive education initiative to improve CLWD’s access to educational services in coordination with Ministry of Education, enhancing case management and information management systems, improving provision of quality telephone counselling for children and adolescents, timely and inclusive child protection services in emergencies (including Mental Health and Psychosocial Support services), and a distance rehabilitation programme for CLWD during the COVID-19 outbreak.

The new joint cooperation, which will continue until December 2022, was signed by Ms. Mandeep O’Brien, UNICEF Iran Representative, Dr. Habibullah Masoudi Farid, Deputy for Social and Cultural Affairs, and Dr. Mohammad Nafarieh, Deputy for Rehabilitation Affairs of SWO, on 16 May 2021.
