Highlights
COVID-19 pandemic left an important mark hard to overcome. For many boys and girls, the pandemic marked the beginning of virtual school; for others, long-distance relationships, lack of socialization opportunities and the loss of family and friends. relationships. Therefore, UNICEF Cuba’s work was focused on the recovery of essential services for children and psycho-emotional support for boys, girls and adolescents and their families after the pandemic and the multiple crisis Cuba is going through.
2023 marked the fourth year of our Cooperation Program 2020-2024. The Program includes the work in the areas of health and nutrition, education and protection from violence and exploitation of every child as cornerstones.
Given the crisis the country and the Cuban people are experiencing, we at UNICEF Cuba renew our commitment to respond wherever we are most needed, ensuring the vaccination of all children under one year of age, modernizing maternal and child health care, promoting new forms of early childhood education, the educational inclusion of children living with disabilities and the promotion of protective environments free of violence. We also supported the municipalities Hurricane Ian affected the most.
In this report you can find some of the outcomes of our work in 2023, learn more about the stories of Cuban children and adolescents who were part of our programme and hear their voices. All this work would not have been possible without the unconditional support provided by many partners and collaborators.
