Mental Health Summer Camp 2023
Through a safe and open space for discussion, young people learned about mental health and well-being

Twenty participants from Kukësi, Puka, Gjirokastra, Vlora, and Tirana came together during August 2 to 6, 2023, embraced the warmth of the sun, and explored mental health and well-being during 5 days of the mental health summer camp. Through a safe and open space for discussion, young people learned about mental health and well-being of young people and adolescents, understanding the challenges they face during these critical stages of life.
Interesting discussions took place on mental health as a fundamental human right, promoting of healthy behaviors, tackling stigma, and exploring positive factors of mental well-being. Movie screening sessions led to a profound and thought-provoking discussion about the complexities of the human mind and the resilience of the human spirit.
Role of UNICEF in addressing mental health concerns and well being of children and young people was discussed , as well as the role of young people as advocates for mental health of children and young people, facilitated by Albanian UN Youth Delegates.
At the end of the mental health summer camp in Pogradec/Albania, local initiatives were crafted for action for mental health awareness and breaking stigma around mental health issues.
The activity was implemented by the UN Association In Albania, supported by UNICEF Albania, and organized under the UNICEF and WHO Joint Programme for mental health and wellbeing of children and adolescents, August 2023.
