Tirana, 17 March 2025 – UNICEF Albania and the College of Europe (Tirana Campus) have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to foster collaboration in research, knowledge sharing, career development, and advocacy. The agreement was signed by UNICEF Representative, Mr. Murat Şahin, and Rector of the College, Ms. Federica Mogherini, marking a significant step toward leveraging academic and development expertise to support children, adolescents, and youth in Albania and beyond.
This partnership will focus on joint research, knowledge exchange, career development opportunities, and advocacy initiatives, all aimed at promoting the rights and well-being of children and youth. The collaboration will also include engagement with youth from the UNICEF Adolescent Advisory Board and former winners of an UPSHIFT edition, ensuring their voices and experiences contribute to discussions and initiatives.
Additionally, the parties discussed Human Capital Development, emphasizing the role of education, skills, and opportunities in shaping the future of young people.
Every accomplishment I’ve reached has its roots in volunteerism and youth activism. I urge you to stay committed to your projects and initiatives, working with passion and dedication to create meaningful impact.
In his opening remarks, Murat Sahin, UNICEF Albania Representative, stated:
In today’s rapidly evolving world, acquiring new skills is more crucial than ever. While education forms the foundation, it is the ability to adapt, learn, lead, and collaborate that truly empowers youth for both the present and the future.
This MoU signifies a strategic alliance between academia and international development, reinforcing the shared mission of UNICEF and the College of Europe in Tirana to champion the rights and aspirations of children and young people through knowledge and action.
