Highlights
In 2026, approximately 21.9 million people, close to half of Afghanistan’s population, require humanitarian assistance, including over 11.6 million children.
A total of 147,087 people (33,830 women, 38,243, girls, 33,830 men and 41,184 boys) gained access to safe drinking water through construction and rehabilitation of durable water supply systems.
UNICEF strengthened Community Engagement and Participation, reaching almost 3.8 million people (approximately 49 per cent women and girls) with lifesaving behaviour change information on preventing malnutrition, exclusive breastfeeding, immunization, mental well-being, disease prevention, and safe hygiene practices.
