In 2022, UNICEF launched the "No Time to Waste Acceleration Plan," aimed at addressing severe malnutrition for nearly 8 million children across 15 affected countries. Despite successfully mobilizing $933 million, reaching 21.5 million individuals, and treating 5.6 million children with severe wasting, the ongoing complexities of conflict, climate change, and economic instability have kept malnutrition levels critically high. “No Time to Waste – 2024” outlines the urgent funding shortfalls as of September 2024, warning that RUTF and funding shortages could put nearly two million children at risk of not receiving treatment in the 12 hardest-hit countries. The appeal also emphasizes the need for continuity of local manufacturing of essential nutrition supplies is vital for sustaining these interventions and improving community resilience against malnutrition.
