Yemen is located at the southern end of the Arabian Peninsula in Western Asia with a population of nearly 30 million, of which 80 per cent is in dire need of humanitarian assistance.

UNICEF’s operations are decentralized with five field offices in Sana'a, Aden, Sa'ada, Hudaydah and Ibb, managing humanitarian response locally with local authorities, non-governmental organizations, partners and communities, to respond to the urgent needs of children and their caregivers throughout the country with a continuum of services in the sectors of health, nutrition, water, hygiene and sanitation, education, child protection, social policy, communication for development and emergency cash transfer, to help children survive and grow to their full potential.
