Challenge

Despite the measures adopted by the country, the fight against poverty is not without challenges, such as those related to family income levels and the impossibility of satisfying the basic needs of the population. UNICEF can help address structural problems related to child poverty by strengthening measurement and data systems and collaborating to design methodologies by which to quantify multidimensional poverty.

Solution

The main objective is that all children and adolescents have access to inclusive social protection and live free of poverty.

UNICEF, together with its counterparts, addresses the structural problems related to child poverty by strengthening measurement and data systems. In addition, it provides technical support to strengthen policies aimed at reducing inequality, with special emphasis on the most vulnerable groups, such as indigenous communities, people of African descent, girls, women and people with disabilities. Also, it strengthens spaces for the participation of children and adolescents, promoting their empowerment and accountability.

The country program 2023 – 2026 - through an approach with a gender perspective and focused on equity - aims to guarantee that, by 2026, all children and adolescents in Venezuela, including the most vulnerable, can fully exercise all their rights and develop their full potential in a safe and inclusive society.
