UNICEF Executive Board Adopts New Country Programme for Tajikistan for 2027–2030

NEW YORK/DUSHANBE, 2 September 2026 – The Executive Board of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) has approved the new Country Programme Document (CPD) for the Republic of Tajikistan for the period 2027–2030 during its Second Regular Session held at United Nations Headquarters in New York.

The adoption of the new Country Programme marks an important milestone in the continued partnership between UNICEF and the Government of Tajikistan to advance the rights and well-being of children and young people across the country. The programme will serve as the strategic framework for cooperation over the next four years, supporting national efforts to improve health, education, protection and opportunities for every child.

Addressing the Executive Board, H.E. Mr. Jonibek Hikmat, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Tajikistan to the United Nations, expressed appreciation for UNICEF's longstanding partnership and continued support to the country's efforts to improve the lives of children.

The 2027–2030 Country Programme is closely aligned with Tajikistan's National Development Strategy 2030, the Mid-Term Development Programme 2026–2030, and national sector priorities. The programme will focus on strengthening maternal, newborn and child health services, improving nutrition outcomes, expanding access to early childhood development and quality inclusive education, enhancing skills development for adolescents and young people, strengthening child and social protection systems, promoting disability inclusion, and supporting children living in rural, mountainous and hard-to-reach communities.

Through the new programme, UNICEF will continue to support national institutions in strengthening systems and services that reach children and families, while promoting greater equity, resilience and inclusion. The programme aims to address persistent disparities and ensure that every child, particularly the most vulnerable, has access to quality services, protection and opportunities to achieve their full potential.

Mr. Abdukholiq Amirzoda, Deputy Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan, also participated virtually in the Executive Board session and delivered remarks regarding the UNICEF Country Programme for Tajikistan for 2027–2030.

The newly approved programme reaffirms the shared commitment of UNICEF and the Government of Tajikistan to advancing the rights of every child and accelerating progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals.
