Comprehensive Family and Child Support Services Strengthened in Tajikistan
Konibodom, 16 February 2026. The Comprehensive Family and Child Support Unit was officially opened at the State Institution “Konibodom City Health Centre.” The ceremony was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Executive Authority of Sughd Region, the “Muzaffar” Charity Foundation, and UNICEF in Tajikistan.
The new Unit was established at the initiative of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population, with the support of the “Muzaffar” Charity Foundation and in cooperation with UNICEF. Its work is based on an intersectoral approach, integrating services across health, education, and social protection and ensuring child support in close connection with families and communities.
The establishment of this Unit will expand children’s access to early identification, timely assistance, and rehabilitation services within their communities. It will also help prevent family separation and reduce the need for institutional care.
The Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population continues to develop integrated services for every child, including children with disabilities and special needs, promoting their right to life, development, and full participation in society in line with the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Development partners, including UNICEF and “Muzaffar” Charity Foundation, support the country’s efforts to strengthen early childhood development systems and intersectoral coordination, helping to create sustainable and accessible services for every family.
The opening of the Comprehensive Family and Child Support Unit in Konibodom marks another important step toward ensuring quality and accessible services for the well-being of every child in Tajikistan.
Maternal and child health remains a key priority of the state social policy of the Republic of Tajikistan. In recent years, with the support of the Government, services aimed at improving access to medical and rehabilitation care for children have been expanded and modernized.
