UNICEF Sudan Humanitarian Mid-Year Situation Report 2026

Highlights

• As Sudan's conflict entered its fourth year, humanitarian needs remained immense, with 33.7 million people requiring assistance amid displacement, disease outbreaks, food insecurity and disrupted services.
   
• UNICEF and partners screened 5.3 million children for acute malnutrition, treated 174,700 children with severe acute malnutrition, supported 1.3 million people with primary health care services, and vaccinated 3.8 million children against measles-rubella and 4.6 million against polio. WASH interventions provided 6.6 million people with access to safe water, including scaled-up cholera response activities in Kordofan.
   
• UNICEF reached 1.3 million children with education services and provided 940,700 people with mental health and psychosocial support, helping children and families cope with the impacts of conflict and displacement.
   
• UNICEF mobilized US$351 million against its 2026 HAC appeal by June, leaving a 64 per cent funding gap that continues to constrain the humanitarian response.
