Don’t put a ring on it
UNICEF calls to #EndChildMarriage
Some things are not fit for children – marriage is one of them.
More than half of South Sudan's girls are married before they enter into adulthood. It is life-threatening, it is harmful, it is a grave violation of children's rights and it must end now.
Child marriage continues to be an unresolved and serious issue in South Sudan due to discriminatory social norms, cultural taboos and poverty. Lack of access to basic services contribute further to gender inequality and impact girls in many ways, including their right to life and to development to their full potential.
In this special feature on child marriage, we are ensuring children are heard. UNICEF in South Sudan would like to take the opportunity to thank some of the generous donors supporting our common goal to end child marriage, namely the Government of Canada, the Peace Building Fund and USAID.
