Nutrition Situation of Children under five, pregnant, and breast-feeding women in South Sudan

Malnutrition among South Sudanese children under five, as well as pregnant and breastfeeding women, remains a critical public health concern. The Food Security and Nutrition Monitoring Survey (FSNMS) conducted in October 2024, along with other SMART
surveys from 2024, indicate that 2.08 million children under five are at risk of acute malnutrition (both moderate and severe wasting) in 2025, a 26 per cent increase from 2024.
A prevention-focused, multi-sectoral approach is critical to achieving long-term, sustainable improvements in nutrition for South Sudan's most vulnerable populations.
