UNICEF in the State of Palestine Escalation Humanitarian Situation Report No.48

Reporting Period 1 January to 30 June 2026

Highlights

  • The ceasefire has not brought safety for Gaza’s children. Since 10 October 2025, 277 children have been reported killed, while nearly nine in ten children consulted said they need psychosocial support.
  • Despite severe access restrictions and critical supply shortages, UNICEF provided safe water to 1 million people in Gaza, including 470,000 children, while sustaining essential health, nutrition, education and protection services.
  • UNICEF reached over 265,000 children through 173 Learning Centres across Gaza, supporting learning, psychosocial wellbeing and referrals to specialized services for children with disabilities.
  • In the West Bank, escalating violence, demolitions and movement restrictions continued to displace families and strain essential public services. UNICEF’s Rapid Response Mechanism reached 1,620 people, including 844 children. UNICEF and partners admitted 19,425 children (6-59 months) for treatment of acute malnutrition, including severe and moderate wasting.
