Highlights

Key Findings

• Since the ceasefire agreement on October 10 2025, prices have significantly decreased across the Gaza Strip. However, some essential food items are still not available (animal products) and the prices of other food items still must come down significantly (vegetables, fruits and dairy).

• Since July, there has been a considerable expansion in the use of digital payments: by now 75% of the recipients of UNICEF humanitarian cash assistance use it exclusively through digital payments to other e-wallets (no cash-out). This shift is one of the drivers of the sharp decrease in liquidity fees to obtain cash in the market, and is also linked to the decrease in the surcharge for using digital payments.

• For the second month in a row, our survey sheds light on the situation and perspective of a specific category of recipients of cash assistance: families that were supported as one of their children was treated for malnutrition.

• Cash assistance is by far the preferred modality of assistance, and increasingly so since July. Everyone uses the cash assistance to purchase food (99% of respondents), but also for transportation (64%), hygiene (62%), energy (58%), and other essential expenditures.
