in local self-governments in the Republic of Serbia
The research examined the actual conditions in the field of children and youth participation in the decision-making processes in local self-governments in the Republic of Serbia.
The research provides a revealing look at the current practice of involving the children and youth in Serbia, at the local level - whether there is such practice, whether it entails youth activism and participation in decision-making process, and whether participation is symbolic and decorative.
The results show that young people are generally not included in decision-making at the local level and that most of them have never attended community meetings or local assemblies where decisions are made.
The research results will be used to make the recommendations for creating the conditions for greater participation of children and youth in decision-making process and promotion of their participation in our country.
