Highlights

Poverty and exclusion significantly impact children's lives by hindering their access to essential social services and development opportunities. Despite the availability of basic services like healthcare, education, and social protection, children facing poverty and exclusion encounter greater barriers due to systems not tailored to their needs. Building on the European Child Guarantee model, UNICEF has been working with the Government of North Macedonia to identify the most vulnerable groups of children, and assess existing services and programmes to address child poverty and social exclusion. The following provides a snapshot of recommended adjustments to existing services and new services that could be considered in a comprehensive package. These aim to complement and enhance existing services, guaranteeing multi-sectoral support and protection for every child, ensuring no child is left behind.
