UNICEF Representative to Montenegro

Michele Servadei, an Italian national, begins his tenure today as UNICEF Representative to Montenegro.
After many years of international experience with UNICEF, other UN entities and NGOs, Servadei will now lead UNICEF’s mission for the benefit of all children in Montenegro.
UNICEF will continue supporting Montenegro in creating a society that provides equal rights and fosters opportunities for every child. By doing so, Montenegro will accelerate on the road to becoming an EU member
Servadei was appointed UNICEF’s Representative to Montenegro by UNICEF’s Executive Director, Catherine Russell and his mandate starts today after the presentation of the credentials to the Government of Montenegro.
Prior to this function, he served as UNICEF Representative to Libya, UNICEF Regional Emergency Advisor for the Middle East and North Africa, and UNICEF Deputy Representative to Ethiopia and Jordan.
Earlier in his career, Servadei worked with various NGOs and UN entities on protection, humanitarian action and programme management in Albania, Iraq, Kenya, Somalia and Sudan, as well as in several countries in the Middle East.
He holds a BA in International Law and Human Rights, has a Master’s in International Development, and is a certified lawyer.
Servadei is the fifth UNICEF Representative to Montenegro since the Country Office was established after Montenegro regained its independence in 2006.
