PODGORICA, 26 February 2018 – Filip Trojanovic is a participant of one of the UPSHIFT workshops that enable young people to contribute to the development of their community in the best way possible. For him, respect for different opinions and teamwork are among the valuable skills he developed at the workshops.

Filip Trojanovic talking about the skills he developed through his participation in UPSHIFT workshops

Previously, I was quite stubborn, but now I already understand better how things work, and that the best solution is not necessarily one that I have proposed, but one that connects people with different opinions.

Filip explained that his participation in the UPSHIFT workshop had been a good recommendation for him in applying for a job in a media company, where he recently started to work on data analysis tasks.

Filip added that the three-day workshop also provided good training in achieving results within tight deadlines.

When I come to the office and see what the situation is like, I then realize that one of the most important skills I developed is completing tasks to a tight deadline. This is something I learned at the workshop, because within three days you need to come up with a plan from beginning to end, with ways of how to achieve all the various stages of the plan that need to be completed.

Filip is just one of 350 UPSHIFT workshop participants who have tried to solve the problems present in their community. As a result of their efforts, 40 initiatives have been launched in cities throughout Montenegro, which have improved the lives of over 20,000 adolescents.

Lesson learned at the UPSHIFT workshops: "The best solution is a joint solution."

Filip therefore invites young people to get more actively involved in the work of the local community: “I invite them to apply for UPSHIFT and to join youth centres. They will make new friendships, get life-long lessons and have a fantastic time socializing”.

Young people and adolescents between the ages of 13 and 19 who apply to participate in the ninth UPSHIFT workshop will have the chance to enjoy this experience for themselves.

Participants will have the opportunity to learn how to plan and finance a project and ensure its sustainability.

The UPSHIFT workshops in our country are organized by the “Kreaktivator” Youth Innovation Laboratory, launched by UNICEF, in partnership with the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Sports and the NGO, with the financial support of ING.
