The projects supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany benefit 896,950 children and adolescents, their caregivers, and professionals, including 4,735 refugees and frontline workers.

We work together to achieve measurable and qualitative results so that all children in Moldova, including refugees and their families, have a decent life. We expected the following results:

  • The education system and national and local authorities have improved capacities to ensure a safe and secure learning environment for all children.
  • Early intervention services for young children with developmental delays and disabilities in two districts are established and functional.
  • Mobile youth-friendly health services (YFHS) in rural areas are established and functional in two pilot districts.
  • Children grow up in a nurturing family environment and have access to improved violence prevention and response services and child-friendly justice.
  • Support the integration of shock responsiveness into the national social protection system.
  • Support the MLSP to increase coverage and efficiency of the national social assistance programme for vulnerable families with children.

Here are some results of the partnership with the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany through KfW:

We launched the campaign “abilitare.md: an inclusive world starts with me, with you, with us...” in co-operation with “Prietena mea” NGO, which encourages positive attitudes towards children with special needs and promotes a better understanding of disabilities. This project envisages the creation of the first platform in Moldova that will help empower, support, and encourage parents and carers of children with special needs. The platform will provide specialized support materials such as articles, guides, tutorials, and educational resources on different types of disabilities, treatments, therapies, and education options, it will also create support groups for mothers and fathers from other regions of Moldova to conduct advocacy activities in their communities.

We organized the “Child-Friendly Justice: Challenges and Needs” roundtable with the Ministry of Justice. The event provided a platform for authorities and development partners to discuss the progress made in recent years in juvenile justice, the challenges faced by state authorities, and to identify the needs to be addressed. The topics discussed include:

  • An overview of legislation on child victims and witnesses of crime, and specialized services and programs for child victims and witnesses of crime;
  • Restorative justice system and programs for children in conflict with the law and children in detention;
  • Specialized programs and services for children in conflict with the law under the minimum age of criminal responsibility;
  • Implementation of a cross-sectoral child protection mechanism ensuring effective coordination between institutions.
