A consignment of essential supplies, hygiene products and disinfectants totalling MDL 285 thousand was purchased for country’s maternity wards.

The goods are intended for pregnant women, post-partum women and newborns, but also for health workers of 11 Level Two and Three Perinatal Centers in the country, which take care of about 80% of country’s births. The goods have already been delivered to the Mother and Child Institute and to the maternity wards in Causeni and Orhei. This will be followed by other shipments to the maternity wards in Soroca, Cahul, Ceadir-Lunga, Edineț, Hincesti, Ungheni and to the maternity ward of the Municipal Hospital No 1.

The donation is made under the ‘Prevention and Response to COVID-19’ Program, which is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by UNICEF Moldova. The project is part of the USD 2.2 million assistance provided by the US Government, through USAID, to stop the spread of COVID-19 in Moldova.
