Alexandra Tarnovschi: "Glasses and hearing aids make my life easier and help me pursue my dreams"

Alexandra Tarnovschi is 12 years old and attends the 5th grade at "Țarigrad" Gymnasium in Drochia district. Despite facing hearing impairments, Alexandra, an active and positive girl, excels in her studies, spends time with friends, and sketches dreams and plans for the future.

"At school, I study, play with friends and classmates, and do homework. I especially love drawing. When I grow up, I want to become a veterinarian. Even though I have hearing, and vision impairments, glasses and hearing aids are my friends; they make my life easier and help me follow my dreams," says Alexandra.

Alexandra's mother remembers that adapting to school was challenging at first for both her and her daughter. With the support of teachers and a speech therapist from the Psychopedagogical Assistance Service in the district, things started to improve, and now Alexandra eagerly attends classes.

"It was very challenging initially because she felt different. However, with everyone's support, she adapted over time. Now, her classmates accept her for who she is, and she goes to school with pleasure," says Alexandra's mother.

She emphasizes that every person is important, regardless of disabilities, and these issues should be discussed with children from an early age in families and kindergarten to prevent discrimination by society.

The Ministry of Education and Research, together with UNICEF, is conducting the national campaign "Learning Together," aimed at promoting inclusive education and its importance for children with disabilities and special educational needs.
