The Society for the Defense of Children in Labour and Street Situation, with the help of public donations and volunteer teachers, provides free education to refugee children who are deprived of their right to education. The children benefit from educational services at this centre in the mornings. After school hours, many of them return to the roles that society and their families have defined for them; selling fortunes, working in non-standard workshops, collecting garbage, and so on.
Officials from the Ministry of Health are among the key players in providing services to underprivileged children. After correspondence with this centre, health representatives are sent to these schools to monitor the health of children who may not even consider visiting a doctor, even in the case of serious and sometimes incurable diseases.
Presented below is the photo story titled "A School for refugee child labourers," which secured third place in the third photography competition jointly organised by the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance and UNICEF Iran, under the theme "Refugee children; Iranian hospitality.
