Highlights

In 2025, Haiti continues to face a complex crisis marked by armed violence, large-scale population displacement, a health system under severe strain and major disruptions to the education system. In this challenging context, UNICEF has intensified its efforts to protect children’s rights, support access to education and meet the essential needs of the most vulnerable communities.

UNICEF strengthened its interventions to respond to the urgent needs of children affected by the crisis, particularly those displaced by violence and insecurity. More than 11,455 displaced children were reintegrated into school, while an additional 3,842 gained access to temporary learning spaces, enabling them to continue their education despite ongoing disruptions. In addition, 22 schools were constructed or rehabilitated and 19 schools were relocated to ensure safer and more functional learning environments.

Children’s mental health and psychosocial well-being were a major priority. Through EDUPOL, UNICEF and their partners, more than 200,000 children received psychosocial support, helping to mitigate the impacts of trauma related to displacement, violence and repeated shocks.

In parallel, UNICEF continued to support families and communities. A total of 18,000 households received cash transfers, enabling them to meet their children’s essential needs. In the water, sanitation and hygiene sector, 33,062 children in 129 schools benefited from improved WASH services, contributing to healthier learning environments. From a nutrition perspective, 46,256 children under the age of five were treated for severe acute malnutrition. This life-saving intervention helped protect their survival and development.
