On 19 June in Bissau, UNICEF and UNESCO launched the Steering Committee for the project ‘Strengthening social cohesion in Guinea-Bissau through the alignment and integration of religious schools with the national education system’.
Financed by the United Nations Peacebuilding Fund (PBF), this initiative is being carried out in close collaboration with the Ministry of Education, under the coordination of the Office of the Resident Coordinator of the United Nations System, with the aim of guaranteeing access to quality education for every child.
It seeks to integrate religious schools into the national education system, promoting inclusive, equitable and quality education as a basis for social cohesion and sustainable peace.
The launch brought together national and international players, including the Minister of Education, Herry Mané, and the UN Resident Coordinator, Geneviève Boutin, marking a key milestone in building trust, inclusion and quality education for all children in Guinea-Bissau.
