The Government of Guinea-Bissau, with the support of UNICEF through the Ministry of Women, Family and Social Solidarity, will launch the National Social Protection Policy and its Implementation Strategy

Bissau, 22 April 2025: Law 04/2007 establishes the national legal framework for social protection with the aim of reducing poverty, food and nutritional insecurity and the vulnerability of the population of Guinea-Bissau through Non-Contributory Social Protection, Contributory Social Protection and Complementary Social Protection. To this end, the government and its development partners intend to provide the country with harmonized legal instruments to create a National Social Protection System that is resilient to shocks in protecting citizens in situations of poverty and vulnerability.
The Government of Guinea-Bissau, with the support of UNICEF through the Ministry of Women, Family and Social Solidarity, will launch the National Social Protection Policy and its Implementation Strategy on 23 April 2025. The event will aim to bring together key players, including government institutions mandated for social protection, the Prime Minister's Office, Development Partners, International Financial Institutions and key stakeholders to actively and officially participate in the launch of the National Social Protection Policy.
In addition, the content and axes of the policy will be presented during the event and then participants will be allowed to intervene during question-and-answer sessions at the end of the presentation.
The event will be attended by 50 technicians and experts in social protection from various government institutions.
