Guatemala City, 25 October 2021. The Guatemalan singer-songwriter and guitarist Gaby Moreno, appointed Goodwill Ambassador of the United Nations Children's Fund, UNICEF, in Guatemala on 28 February 2020, announced today that she is working on a new project in which she will produce a musical album by and for children.
“I am currently producing a series of songs for an album to bring educational and positive messages to children. I am very excited about this project and with the help of UNICEF I hope it can reach many girls and boys in the country and contribute to their development and well-being.” said Gaby Moreno, National UNICEF Guatemala Ambassador.
The songs will be written and produced by the singer-songwriter and sung by Guatemalan girls, boys and adolescents who will be part of Zona Neón, a platform for children where they can find music, dances, trivia and many other tools for learning while having fun. The album will also feature the participation of 12-year-old Guatemalan pianist Yahaira Tubac and 8-year-old violinist Pedro Tubac.
It is a fact that music plays a fundamental role in the development of girls’, boys’ and adolescents’ brains. Gaby's album will make a great contribution in the country to early child and adolescent development, where the foundations for future life are laid.
“Listening to music has stimulating effects and ignites all areas of child development and school readiness skills. It also helps girls, boys and adolescents to express themselves and share their feelings, generates empathy and self-confidence. For this reason, at UNICEF we are excited about this project, and we appreciate Gaby’s commitment. She is a great ally in our work for Guatemalan children.” highlighted Carlos Carrera, UNICEF Representative in Guatemala.
The project single will be released on 20 November of this year within the framework of World Children's Day, and the album will be available in early 2022.
