Child Online Protection in Ghana

Child online protection is one of the emerging topical issues in Ghana. Child online protection is an international collaborative network to protect children worldwide against cyber threats by providing legal, technical and organizational measures. It is geared towards the prevention of violence against children through the internet and other mobile technologies.
This survey was intended to collect information; access to, usage, user habits, risks and opportunities as regards online media among children of 9-17 years. The trigger for the research was the need for evidence of the scope, nature of the opportunities and risks as well as the dynamics of the use of the internet by children in Ghana to inform policy and programme intervention. Moreover, the existing information had gaps ins cope and focuses on only certain aspects of the subject matter.
