About

The cholera epidemic that affected multiple countries in Eastern and Southern Africa in 2023 persists and continues to impact the region in increasing number of countries, placing a significant strain on communities and healthcare facilities.

To support UNICEF country offices in the region with response and advocacy efforts on keeping schools safe and open, a brief guidance note on safe school operations during cholera was developed.

For any questions or further suggestions, please reach out to Carolin Wäldchen [email protected] from the Education team at the UNICEF Eastern and Southern Africa Regional Office.
