Unlocking Climate Finance for Young People in the Eastern Caribbean
A practical guide to help young people access climate finance opportunities and participate meaningfully in climate action and decision-making across the Eastern Caribbean
Highlights
Unlocking Climate Finance for Young People in the Eastern Caribbean is a practical guide designed to empower youth across the region to meaningfully participate in climate action and access climate finance opportunities.
Young people are among the most affected by the climate crisis, including rising sea levels, intensifying storms and other climate-related impacts, yet they remain underrepresented in climate finance planning and decision-making processes. This publication seeks to address that gap by equipping youth with the knowledge, tools and entry points needed to engage more effectively.
The guide outlines opportunities for youth participation across four key areas of climate finance: project design, implementation, monitoring and governance. It highlights pathways for young people to build climate finance literacy, participate in co-design panels, pursue climate-related training and engage in innovation challenges that support climate solutions.
The publication also underscores the importance of youth representation in national climate governance processes, including National Adaptation Plans (NAPs) and Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). It encourages advocacy for meaningful youth participation, dedicated budgets and youth-specific climate commitments.
By strengthening access to information and participation opportunities, the guide supports more equitable, inclusive and sustainable climate action across the Eastern Caribbean.
