Highlights

To achieve equity in education and support the most marginalized children and adolescents in East Asia and Pacific region, it is imperative to collect, analyze and utilize quality information and data of each and every child so that we can develop tailored policies and programmes. It is more important than ever, during the current unprecedented crisis caused by the global pandemic of COVID19 which hits the vulnerable children hardest and widens the gaps and inequalities even further.

It is in this context that UNICEF is pleased to present a series of Reports on Education Management Information System that Track Individual Student Data.

The Timor-Leste Report has examined the policy and data gaps relating to the EMIS, and has reviewed the extent to which data are analyzed and utilized for decision-making by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport.  The findings revealed key challenges in policy, data management and reporting, and internal capacity to be strengthened in order to increase the utilization of data. Key recommendations are offered with detailed implementation to the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, and other agencies working to enhance the EMIS in Timor-Leste, and strives towards the achievement of SDG4 Education 2030 agenda in the country.
