Developing careers to achieve results for children

Manage your career
Career development activities are designed to support UNICEF staff in the active management of their careers. By empowering staff to take control of their career management by assessing and understanding their full potential, we are better equipped to achieve a world where all children, especially the most vulnerable and disadvantaged, have equal opportunities to survive and thrive.

Learn and develop professionally and personally
Our learning approach is centered around learner engagement and seeks to provide staff with current, accessible learning opportunities that result in skills transfer back to the job. Our learning programmes are designed to build capacity at all levels, from interns to senior leaders, and are directly linked to UNICEF’s Strategic Plan.
Through creative and innovative programme design, staff are provided with ample opportunities to engage in professional development that enhances both personal and technical skill sets. We strongly advocate for variety and flexibility in our learning tools and resources, and believe that the best outcomes are achieved through meeting different learning needs and unique learning styles.
Learning Menu
UNICEF offers a wide range of learning opportunities to staff at all levels and locations. This includes:

Performance with purpose
Managing performance is at the heart of getting the best from our people and achieving results for children. It is not a one-time event, but an ongoing feedback and coaching process where both the supervisor and staff member have an active role in sustaining dialogue to positively impact our individual and collective contribution. UNICEF cultivates an environment where ongoing and honest feedback are at the forefront of our performance culture.
Our Staff Recognition and Reward Programme acknowledges, celebrates and motivates our most important asset – our people. In addition, our Staff Team Awards aims to recognize well-functioning teams that, through their excellent collaboration, ensure that UNICEF remains a high-performing organization.
