Félix Ackebo, the new UNICEF Representative in the Central African Republic, takes up his post

On 18 June 2025 he presented his credentials to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

BANGUI, 18 June 2025 - Mr Félix Ackebo is the new Representative of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in the Central African Republic. He presented his credentials on Wednesday 18 June 2025 to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Francophonie and Central Africans Abroad, through Mr Alain Lamessi, the Cabinet Director.

"I would like to express my deep gratitude to the government of the Central African Republic for the solid and fruitful partnership it has cultivated with UNICEF, and for its commitment to the rights and well-being of children. In these complex times, marked by growing international financial challenges, I reiterate UNICEF's determination to support national priorities and to work hand in hand for a better future for every child," said the UNICEF Representative. 

Felix Ackebo has more than 30 years' professional experience, including 27 years with UNICEF. He was previously UNICEF Representative in Guinea from January 2023 to May 2025.

Prior to this, he was Senior Coordinator in the Emergency Response Team of UNICEF's Office of Emergency Programmes in New York. In this capacity, he coordinated humanitarian responses in several critical contexts, including Sudan, Ethiopia, Afghanistan, the Central African Republic, Burkina Faso and Somalia.

Across his career, Mr Ackebo has also held positions as Deputy Representative in Guinea, Niger and Mali, as well as Head of Zone Office in Goma, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Before joining UNICEF, he was in charge of socio-anthropological studies for a research firm in his native Côte d'Ivoire.
