A new chapter in community health development began in Corozal with the official launch of the Corozal Wellness and Community Health Resource Center, a dedicated space designed to strengthen health education, capacity building, and community engagement across northern Belize.

UNICEF Belize joined the Government of Belize, the Ministry of Health & Wellness through the Health Education and Community Participation Bureau (HECOPAB), and the Government of the Republic of Korea in celebrating the opening of the center, which will serve as a valuable resource for community health workers, volunteers, youth leaders, and healthcare professionals.

The facility is expected to play a key role in strengthening community-based health services by providing access to learning materials, training opportunities, and information resources that support health promotion and disease prevention efforts. By investing in knowledge and skills at the community level, the center will help ensure that essential health information and services reach families and communities, particularly those most in need.

Speaking at the launch, UNICEF Belize Representative Sajid Ali highlighted the importance of community engagement in building resilient health systems. He emphasized that effective health services depend not only on healthcare facilities and professionals, but also on the collective efforts of individuals and communities working together to ensure that no one is left behind.

The establishment of the resource center reflects a shared commitment to strengthening Belize's health sector through partnership, innovation, and community participation. It also underscores the fundamental principle that access to information is a right and an essential component of achieving better health outcomes for all.

UNICEF Belize extends its appreciation to the Government of the Republic of Korea, the Government of Belize, the Ministry of Health & Wellness, and all partners who contributed to making this initiative possible.

As the Corozal Wellness and Community Health Resource Center opens its doors, it stands as an important investment in the people who serve their communities every day and in the collective effort to build healthier, more informed, and more resilient communities across Belize.
