Government of Belize and UNICEF launch Situational Analysis on Children with Disabilities in Belize
Every child seen, counted and included
The Government of Belize, in partnership with UNICEF, has unveiled the Situation Analysis for Children with Disabilities in Belize, a landmark report that sheds light on the realities faced by children living with disabilities across the country. This comprehensive study provides critical evidence to guide inclusive policies and programs, ensuring that no child is left behind.
The analysis reveals persistent gaps in access to health, education, and child protection services for children with disabilities, compounded by stigma, poverty, and limited institutional capacity. Despite Belize’s recent progress with the enactment of the Disability Act (2024), the report underscores the urgent need for coordinated action to translate legal commitments into tangible improvements in the lives of children.
This landmark study provides critical insights to guide policies, investments, and programs that ensure every child is counted, visible, and included. Key findings reveal:
