Highlights

This report presents the findings of a nationally representative household survey examining out-of-pocket expenditures (OoPE) on education and health in Belize. Drawing on data collected from households with children aged 0–17 years, the analysis provides a detailed demand-side assessment of the financial burdens families face in accessing essential services. It explores levels and drivers of household and per‑child spending, disparities across districts and population groups, and the factors contributing to catastrophic expenditures. The findings aim to inform evidence‑based policymaking to reduce financial barriers, strengthen public service provision, and promote more equitable access to quality health and education services for all children in Belize.
