Annual Report 2025
About
The year 2025 was marked by a difficult global environment for children. Needs continued to grow in many parts of the world, while funding for development and humanitarian action declined.
Across the international system, institutions were compelled to reassess priorities and make hard choices, at a time when protecting children’s rights remains fundamental.
In this context, cooperation between UNICEF and the Government of Algeria confirmed that when resources are limited, strong systems mat- ter even more. Progress for children depends on public institutions that function well, on credible data, on coordination across sectors and on equitable access to services.
These are the foundations that preserve gains and provide stability when circumstances are uncertain.
As UNICEF marks its 80th anniversary in 2026, this moment invites both reflection and responsibility.
For eight decades, UNICEF has adapted to changing circumstances while remaining anchored in a simple mission: to place children at the center of action. In Algeria, this commitment continues more than ever, focused on strengthening the systems that allow e heath, quality learning protection and participation, for every child.
